lua + safe carefully selected the jars we use for our candles with the purpose of reuse in mind.
used candle jars can be re-purposed as a pot for small succulents, small storage containers, a jar for make-up brushes or as decor.
you know you’ve reached the end of your candle’s use when there is 6-10mm of wax remaining at the bottom. Burning a candle past this point can damage the vessel or even the surface it’s sitting on.
so what to do with the remaining wax? when the vessel is not too hot to handle, you can carefully pour the remaining melted wax into the top of your oil burner. this way you can enjoy every last drop the same way you would one of our wax melts.
how to remove the wick from the jar? place your emptied candle on a level, heat-resistant surface and carefully fill the jar with boiling water, leaving 2.5cm of space at the top of the jar. gently pry away the wick tab with a butter knife or teaspoon.
once your wick and wick tab have been removed, allow the jar to cool down prior to giving the jar a gentle wash with dishwashing liquid to remove any remaining wax residue, glue or soot left. if wax residue is present, please ensure to pop in a drain stopper or extra fine strainer. candle wax should never be poured down the drain as it can cause blockages.
